Support women survivors of violence to become financially independent through social enterprises. You’ll be a critical member of a small but dynamic group of women creating change in their community.

Centro Feto Haburas Dozenvolvimento (CFHD) started with a group of women determined to support each other through the common challenges they faced. It now aims to help women in Baucau be more self-confident, liberated and able to sustain their own livelihoods.

CFHD runs self-help groups, offers employment skills training and raises awareness of gender-based violence within rural communities. It relies heavily on committed volunteers from the local community and recently, an Australian Volunteer has supported its program planning, fundraising and community development activities.

CFHD is now seeking a Business Development Adviser to raise funds from social enterprises such as a café and handicrafts. This will include developing a business plan and mentoring staff in promotion, administration and financial management. The role will include support with project management.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience in growing commercial or social business enterprises
  • Ability to train, mentor and build capacity of staff members
  • Willingness to learn Tetun is essential
  • Self awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience
