Mary MacKillop International (MMI) is the international aid and development organisation of the Sisters of St Joseph. In the tradition of Mary MacKillop, MMI works in Peru and Timor-Leste to build the capacity of local communities through education, vocational training, health and community support.
The Sisters of St Joseph commenced work in East Timor in 1994 as the Mary MacKillop Institute of East Timorese Studies, and is now known throughout Timor-Leste as Institutu Mary MacKillop. In Timor-Leste, MMI is well known for its Tetun literacy program, which includes teacher training and the production of school resources in the Tetun language.
MMI is currently recruiting for 2 full-time program coordinator roles based in Dili, Timor-Leste.

- Program Coordinator – Parents
The Parents Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing MMI’s parent training program, which forms an important part of MMI’s work in the area of literacy and pre-primary education. The Parents Program aims to deliver a purpose-driven program for pre-primary school parents to support their children’s educational development and assist their children in school-readiness.
The Parents Program Coordinator will manage all aspects of the project cycle, including project reporting, financial management, and M&E. They will also directly manage any project staff working directly on the parent project, including performance management and team leadership.
The Parents Program Coordinator will need at least 3 years experience in project management, preferably in the education sector, a strong understanding of the pre-primary education system in Timor-Leste, experience in training others, and extensive experience in project report writing, financial management and M&E.
- Program Coordinator – Health
The Health Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all of MMI’s health-related projects, which focus on training pre-primary and primary school teachers, parents and community members in the areas of personal health, hygiene and nutrition to promote and maintain good health among children.
This role requires at least 3-5 years experience working in the health and WASH sector in Timor-Leste, and at least 3-5 years experience in financial and project management. The successful candidate will also have extensive experience in training others, experience in leading and managing staff, and a current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one.
