Ba Futuru is a prominent local non-profit organization in Timor-Leste working to build a peaceful, positive and productive Timor-Leste through using innovative approaches that will protect children, reduce violence, empower women and inspire young learners. Ba Futuru has provided educational training programs to more than 30,000 children, youth, teachers, parents and community leaders since 2004.


Position Overview

The Finance Manager works collaboratively with Ba Futuru’s Management Team to ensure excellent and rigorous financial management. The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring Ba Futuru’s finances are well-managed, accountable and transparent and that its Finance Policies and Procedures are implemented effectively and efficiently.


Position requirements

o   A commitment to Ba Futuru’s mission and values

o   Excellent skills and experience in financial management and accounting

o   Experience in financial reporting to management and donors

o   A commitment to Ba Futuru’s Financial Policy and Procedures and other relevant policies such as Anti-Fraud and Corruption.


Desired skills/knowledge

o   An accounting/financial management qualification

o   Ability to create and monitor the organisation’s annual budget and cashflow projections

o   Ability to analyse financial reports and provide advice to management and project teams

o   Ability to prepare reports for external audits

o   Ability to work collaboratively with project teams to create budgets for donors

o   Ability to manage and lead the finance team in a collaborative way

o   Proficiency in Word and Excel and good understanding and experience of MYOB

o   Advanced English and Fluency in Tetun

o   Exposure to non-governmental organizations in Timor-Leste

o   Good written and spoken communication skills

o   Ability to build effective relationships with project teams, management and donors

o   Proven ability to protect confidential information

o   Ability to organize, prioritize, manage time effectively and work independently

o   Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure

o   Ability to troubleshoot, improvise and think strategically and creatively

o   Willingness to work to a flexible schedule
