Work alongside the International Labour Organization (ILO) to support development in the tourism sector.
The volunteer will work with the ILO to enhance understanding of the tourism sector and its potential development. They will support the development of research methods to assess the constraints and opportunities of tourism, train and support staff to conduct the research, and provide ongoing mentoring and advice to the research team as required. The results will help develop stakeholder understanding of the potential of tourism development. The volunteer will also identify private and public sector partners to support tourism development in the targeted areas, and support the design and delivery of action plans for tourism that are appropriate to each district.
The ILO is currently partnered with the Ministry of Economy and Development to stimulate micro and small enterprise in rural areas of Timor-Leste. The aim is to facilitate economic growth in prospective rural sectors, such as agriculture, beef cattle, horticulture and tourism. The volunteer will be working with three pilot districts, with the intention that the methods developed will be applied in all 13 districts of Timor-Leste.
This is a two year assignment and basic, furnished accommodation will be provided by VSA.
